About The Project

Central Electrical (NW) Ltd delivered the M&E installation package as part of the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the appliance bay facilities at Offerton Fire Station for Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS). The works supported modifications to the existing operational fire station, including alterations to internal layouts, ventilation systems, lighting arrangements and fire alarm infrastructure.

 

Electrical Services

  • Alteration and relocation of existing lighting installations to accommodate the revised appliance bay layout.
  • Installation of new fire alarm sounders, detectors and associated fire alarm devices within the refurbished areas.
  • Modification and extension of existing fire alarm circuits to maintain full coverage and compliance.
  • Reconfiguration of electrical services to suit new partition walls and room layouts.
  • Testing, commissioning and certification of all electrical installations upon completion.

Mechanical Services

  • Installation of mechanical ventilation systems serving the newly created kit room and operational areas.
  • Relocation and modification of existing heating equipment to suit the revised building configuration.
  • Adaptation of existing building services to accommodate the new appliance bay arrangement and internal room alterations.
  • Coordination of M&E services within an operational emergency services environment to minimise disruption to station activities. 

 

Refurbishment & Building Integration

  • Support for the construction of new stud partitions and room formations within the appliance bay.
  • Coordination of services associated with the creation of a new PPE storage and kit room.
  • Integration of mechanical and electrical services with the station refurbishment works and operational requirements.
  • Ensuring all installations were completed in accordance with current fire safety, electrical and building regulations.

 

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  • Functional testing of all fire alarm modifications and life safety systems.
  • Commissioning of ventilation and heating services.
  • Production of as-installed records and certification.
  • Final handover ensuring the refurbished areas were fully operational and compliant.
