Shotton Papermill M&E Installation

Central Electrical & Mechanical delivered the complete mechanical and electrical services installation for a new tissue manufacturing facility at Deeside Industrial Park, Wales. The project included production buildings, storage facilities, workshops, a gatehouse, pump house and associated external infrastructure, with full installation, testing, commissioning and handover of all M&E systems.

Mechanical Services

Our mechanical installation included:

• Installation of the complete HVAC system, including air handling units, fan coil units, split systems, unit heaters, chillers, heat recovery systems, ventilation equipment and associated pipework.
• Construction of the fire protection systems, including underground fire mains, hydrant networks, hose reels, sprinkler systems, fire pumps and gas suppression systems for critical electrical rooms.
• Installation of all domestic water, hot water and drainage systems, including booster sets, storage tanks, sanitary pipework, sewage pumping stations and wastewater infrastructure.
• Installation of utility services and process support infrastructure, including heating water, cooling water, steam, condensate and compressed air distribution systems.

Electrical Services

Our electrical installation included:

• Delivery of the complete LV and HV electrical distribution systems, including 11kV incoming supplies, transformers, switchgear, distribution boards and power distribution networks.
• Installation of all lighting and small power systems throughout the facility, including internal and external lighting, emergency lighting, socket outlets and associated containment.
• Installation of comprehensive earthing and lightning protection systems for all buildings and structures.
• Installation and commissioning of fire detection and alarm systems across the site.
• Delivery of specialist ELV systems, including CCTV, access control, data networks, telecommunications, public address systems and security infrastructure.
• Provision of power and controls for all mechanical plant and HVAC equipment.
• Installation of extensive cable containment systems, cable tray networks and UPS distribution systems.

External Infrastructure

• Installation of site-wide external lighting, underground electrical services and utility infrastructure.
• Electrical and mechanical support services associated with the site’s fire-fighting network, drainage systems and process utility connections.

Testing, Commissioning & Handover

• Full testing and commissioning of all M&E systems.
• Preparation of operation and maintenance manuals.
• Training of client operational personnel.
• Delivery of as-built documentation and ongoing warranty support.
